Easter in the neighbourhoods of Siena

The Torreprima Farm holiday of Sangimignano is waiting for you to come and to enjoy all the events programmed for Easter in Siena and in the neighbourhoods. On Good Friday at Chianciano Terme you can admire the old “Giudeata”, an important procession that dates back to 1700s made with traditional costumes; the “Santa Croce” procession that usually takes place in San Gimignano, where the brothers of Venerable Mercy join the whole thing with typical costumes and headgears; in Cetona there is still a procession with people carrying the Dead Christ; and at Abbadia San Salvatore you can enjoy another “Giudeata” that evokes the Via Crucis with soldiers by horse followed by several characters wearing traditional costumes with oil-torches just for the pleasure of all the citizens and tourists. On Easter Day still at Chianciano Terme there is the traditional “Easter Breakfast” (Colazione Pasquale), where thirty stores usually provides to people and tourists the famous “ciaccia”, that simply is a blend of pecorino cheese and capocollo with boiled eggs, a really typical dish made on Easter in the neighborhoods, that is a traditional way to wish good luck to people working in this field. Surprises by the way don’t end up here, and if you want to learn and know more and more just make your suitcase and come visit us in this marvelous part of the world…. and you will figure it out!!
